Axwell speaks on new single and ten years of Axtone ahead of Axtone Ten release
Dominating headlines over the past few calendars years as one-half of Axwell Ʌ Ingrosso and one-third of Swedish House Mafia, Axwell‘s individual credentials have largely been muted in favor of genre-defining collaborations. Now reaching a milestone of a decade releasing some of the most critically-acclaimed work in the industry, the Swede’s imprint has a celebratory compilation in the work – part of which lands Axwell’s newest single.
“My solo work is more of a vent or an outlet for music that feels more personal to me,” Axwell told Rolling Stone in a recent interview. His impending single is no different. Dedicated to his wife Gloria, “Waiting For So Long (Gloria)” takes a slow-burning approach instead of setting its sights on big room mastery. The single showcases an entirely different side of one of dance music’s most consistent forces and also marks his first solo production since “Center of the Universe.”
Part of Axtone’s tenth anniversary compilation which has previously previewed Fono’s remix of “I Found U,” the impending album will mark a milestone for one of the genre’s most unique labels. Also hinting at a reunion for Swedish House Mafia in a recent interview with Zane Lowe, Axwell’s 2016 is shaping up to be a career marker year for a superstar who has a resume of accomplishments that can stand beside anyone in the industry.
