Decibel Festival founder says Los Angeles may be in event’s future

Decibel Festival, Seattle’s premier house and techno gathering, may have Los Angeles in its sights for a future event. The news was relayed by Sean Horton, founder of Decibel, in his end of year note.

Horton said:

“Looking ahead to 2016, many of you have heard I’ve relocated to Los Angeles this past fall. I’m pleased to report that Los Angeles’ vibrant and diverse electronic music community has been more than welcoming and receptive to the idea of Decibel. Though there is still much work to be done before any formal decision is made, know that I’m confident in the ability to replicate Decibel in Los Angeles. This would be in addition to a Seattle program. More to come on both later this winter, so stay tuned.”

It’s a promising declaration — one that we hope will be formalized in the coming months — and an affirmative nod to the burgeoning underground scene in Los Angeles.

Decibel celebrated its 12th anniversary this past September, hosting artists such as Agoria, Joseph Capriati, Marcel Dettmann, Nicolas Jaar and more across its five-day span. In theory, the festival’s unique setup of stringing together a plethora of venues and holding simultaneous parties would translate very well to a city like Los Angeles. While nothing has been confirmed officially, Horton’s rhetoric is very promising. Here’s to hoping Decibel in Los Angeles becomes a reality in 2016.
