DJ Earworm drops mashup of 2015 hits in ’50 Shades of Pop’
One of the most creative musical gifts of the year has arrived, with the annual release of “The United State of Pop” from DJ Earworm (née Jordan Roseman). Since 2007, the mashup series serves as a culmination of the year’s biggest hits, megamixed into one massive track. For the first year ever, Roseman adds an additional 25 songs into the mix, resulting in a jam-packed mashup of 50 tracks titled “50 Shades of Pop.”
In just 5 minutes, Roseman transitions between chart-toppers from Jack Ü , Adele, The Weeknd, Drake, and several other mainstream artists. According to Roseman, “50 Shades of Pop” highlights a year of music arguably more “retro” and “soft” than previous years.
Though some music fans may think that 2015’s music scene was oversaturated by mainstream sounds, Roseman asserts that this year’s music releases exhibited variety: “It’s a more eclectic mix than it was five years ago.”
