Facebook introduces new concert ticketing platform
After taking a giant leap into the music world by integrating Spotify and Apple Music clips into your news feed, Facebook’s latest initiative will bring fans even closer to their favorite artists. The social media giant has implemented a space for users to purchase concert tickets directly through event pages. The newly added “Buy Tickets” button will allow people to pick up their tickets at Will Call; for the time being, electronic or paper tickets are not available.
Still in its experimental phase, Facebook has partnered with a handful of independent venues, artists, and promoters in the Bay Area to test its new service. While the platform will help advertise and sell the tickets, all profits will go directly to the third party.
As millions of people rely on Facebook’s event pages to discover events taking place in their spheres, it makes sense that the social networking service has made the move toward directly offering tickets to consumers.
