Watch This: Damon Albarn and Noel Gallagher play Gorillaz tracks live

With the Gorillaz impending return slated for sometime in 2016, the group looks to return to form after 2010 brought their last full length project along, Plastic Beach. According to previous interviews, recording will commence in September and although no release date, or even timeline, has been announced, the project quickly vaulted itself into the most anticipated releases of the coming year.

In celebration of The Clash bassist Paul Simonon turning 60, one half of the Gorillaz, Damon Albarn united with a few friends to put on a special performance. Noel Gallagher of Oasis joined in on the fun, as well as The Pretenders’ founder Chrissie Hynde. “DARE,” taken from the group’s second studio album Demon Days, is the original mix from the virtual band’s discography to be selected and the performance is a unique, polarizing take on the single.
