ATB unveils crowd-sourced mix series, ‘Synthesis’
ATB’s newest undertaking is Synthesis: a collaborative project with his avid fanbase. Having been an active participant in the electronic scene since his days as a legendary figure in trance, the German producer is now ready to help usher in a new generation of innovative creators.
Occurring on a monthly basis, Synthesis is meant to not just reflect his own tastes in EDM, but those of his followers as well. To formulate each episode, fans are directed to ATB’s website where they are encouraged to submit their favorite track of the month. ATB then gathers top picks into the episode as a cohesive, hour-long mix. The crowd-sourcing approach with regards to music curating is quite forward-thinking for today’s electronic industry; it’s rare to see DJs work with fans in such a manner.
“As much as I love creating records, music discovery is just as important to me,” ATB says. “As an artist and DJ, I have shared my personal tastes with my fans, but this time, I wanted to open that into a two-way dialogue.”
His debut Synthesis episode can be listened to below, and submissions can be filed here.
