LCD Soundsystem to headline inaugural Panorama Festival
Not long after receiving the green light to host their inaugural east coast festival, AEG Live and Goldenvoice have announced LCD Soundsystem as Panorama Festival‘s first official headliner. The band, which was resurrected late last year, signed a three-festival deal with the two companies, locking down performances at Coachella and FYF Fest as well.
Goldenvoice and AEG envisioned their first foray into the east coast to take place in June at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens. However, NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell Silver rejected their proposal out of respect for the local community: “While we are heartened by the interest in one of Queens’ most historic parks, our primary concern is ensuring the park is available for the many New Yorkers who call Flushing Meadows Corona Park their backyard.”
Meanwhile, Governors Ball producer Founder’s Entertainment feels threatened by Goldenvoice’s entry into its turf, citing two same-genre festivals within the course of seven weeks as problematic for both fans and taxpayers.
Panorama Festival will take place at Randall’s Island Park from July 22-24, 2016.
