Mat Zo’s new album will come in February; listen to his rejected demos

Two years ago, Mat Zo enraptured the electronic world with his debut album, Damage Control. The 13-track offering proved his most inspired work to date, cementing his status as a formidable, genre-less producer in the process.

Now Zo has confirmed that his sophomore album will arrive earlier than expected, replying to a fan on Twitter by saying it will be due out in “Early feb.”

To inaugurate the album campaign, Zo has decided to share some demos that didn’t make the final cut. The British producer has uploaded five new tracks to SoundCloud, ranging from the screamo-inspired “Castrated” to the lighter, more mellifluous “Supernova.”

It’s worth remembering, that as demos, the production on the tracks is often not at 100%, but rather serves to showcase the idea before Zo spends countless hours perfecting the track. As he clarified on Twitter, the final decision to approve (or in this case, disapprove) the tracks was made by both him and his management. “If we all weren’t happy with it, it didn’t go on the album,” he said.

With Mat Zo’s album arriving so soon into the new year, it’s safe to say we can expect a new single shortly.
