Pete Tong to broadcast his world-famous BBC Radio 1 show live from LA and Miami

Pete Tong has announced plans to broadcast his world-famous BBC Radio 1 show live from Los Angeles. The UK tastemaker’s weekly Friday spot has long-served as one of the world’s leading platforms for dance music, and now it will officially touch down in the US.

On January 22, Tong will air his show from Hollywood, featuring a huge cast of guest performers, including Eric Prydz, MK (with a special guest), and Claude VonStroke. Later in the night, Tong will help host the first Essential Mix Live of the year with Richie Hawtin from Exchange LA.

While Tong has lived in LA for a few years now, this marks the first official, live BBC Radio 1 broadcast from the US. The groundbreaking moment will be followed by a second US edition in Miami on March 18, featuring Radio 1’s Annie Mac and Danny Howard, as well as an additional lineup of yet-to-be-announced guests.

Pete Tong said of the forthcoming LA broadcast:

“I’m very excited about my show coming live from LA on Jan 22nd. Los Angeles has become a creative hub for electronic artists from all over the world during the past few years and California and Las Vegas a hot bed of ground breaking festivals and some of the world’s leading clubs. Bringing the show out of Hollywood and being able to reflect some of the exciting things going on is a great way to start the year.”
