Universal’s previously unreleased dance catalogue hits streaming services

After eighteen months of preparation, Universal Music has provided further details about their Nightclubbing concept, which introduces previously unavailable or removed tracks to Spotify, Apple Music, and Beatport.

UMC A&R Manager Robin Jenkins, who took the lead combing through archives for this project, explained “we’re uncovering remixes from the original godfathers of the dancefloor, which sound just as fresh now as when they were originally played more than 20 years ago.” The international organization Association for Electronic Music (AFEM) was involved with the project as well. Ralph Moore and Matt Dixon, from AFEM’s Preservation and Heritage Committee, added “AFEM’s Heritage committee are extremely proud to be working on the Nightclubbing project with Universal. This classic catalogue looks set to reach a whole new audience.”

The project features legendary labels like AM:PM, 4th and Broadway, and Ten Records. Some of the highlights on the Nightclubbing: Iconic Dance Pioneers playlist include originals and remixes by Frankie Knuckles, Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder, and MK. Even more rarities are on the Nightclubbing: Extended playlist, including five different remixes of Will Downing’s “A Love Supreme.”
