deadmau5 samples Jay-Z on new track, ‘the carp is mine’
Eerily similar to the treasure-trove of new music deadmau5 previewed before while(1<2) saw the light of day, the Canadian producer has uploaded a host of new works to SoundCloud.
The first preview arrived on Sunday in the form of “gsadfawe4,” with a distorted midtempo bassline carrying the original to the finish line. Calling upon the talents of frequent collaborator Shotty Horroh, Zimmerman invited the British rapper to place his vocals on the work in progress.
Another new track, “the carp is mine,” utilizes lyrics from Jay-Z’s 1997 hit “The City Is Mine.” Swift snares and a glitchy bassline protrude through the composition, while “Gymnopedie No. BORED” places a light synth as the song’s defining piece. Finally, “fuck you too” samples the Beastie Boys’ “Hey Fuck You.”
The latest influx of new music doesn’t appear to bring any finished products along, leaving the door open for another slate of revisions to arrive in the first quarter of 2016.
