Free N Losh’s debut EP showcases the breadth of Canada’s upcoming talent

Toronto-based production duo Free N Losh have called on some of the brightest up-and-coming talent of their home country as collaborators on their debut EP, 5th & Ghost. The pair started off as hip-hop producers, refining their technical prowess before finding their niche at the intersection of indie and electronic.

“Kill My Lonely” features vocals from Allan Rayman, recently declared one of Spotify’s Artists to Watch in 2016. Guitar licks and syncopated claps give texture to the wistful melody. “The Right Song” is a nod to the pair’s hip-hop roots, balancing fellow Toronto artist Terrell Morris’s smooth verses with trumpet calls and piano runs.

“Runnin'” joins forces with nine-person electro-soul collective Busty and the Bass for a mellow funk-infused production. “Please Don’t Leave,” Free N Losh’s only solo effort on the EP, melds a soulful vocal loop with instrumental riffs. The exuberant vocal production “Rose” closes out the EP, bolstered by the delicate vocals of East African-born, Toronto-based singer/songwriter Bethea.
