Meet the underground talent of CRSSD Fest: Gorgon City
San Diego’s CRSSD Fest – presented by FNGRS CRSSD — has become a sanctuary for house, techno, and underground electronic music fans. The upcoming March edition looks to be the festival’s most promising offering yet, featuring an even greater array of delectable underground acts as well as some formidable headliners such as ODESZA, Chet Faker, Gesaffelstein and Cirez D. To dig a big deeper into the lineup, we’ve tapped some of our favorite acts on the bill for a daily interview series before the festival.
UK duo Gorgon City are far from newcomers to the scene. Both halves of the group, Foamo and Rack n Ruin, initially got their start in the underground, developing their respective sounds long before they had any mainstream ambitions. Joined together as Gorgon City, the duo first garnered widespread recognition with their 2014 single “Ready For Your Love,” which peaked at number 4 on the UK singles chart.
In time since, Gorgon City have kept up the momentum by enlisting collaborators like Jennifer Hudson, Clean Bandit, and English singer-songwriter Romans to provide unforgettable vocal toplines for their productions. Bolstered by the resurgence of UK garage, Gorgon City have reached new heights in their career. Make no mistake, however. Foamo and Rack n Ruin’s success is no fluke. The pair ultimately have the technical backing and industry support to sustain their momentum for years to come.
Gorgon City are set to perform from the Palms stage on Sunday. Tickets for CRSSD Fest are available here.
