New York’s Rinsed announces new label and inaugural single

New York’s legendary underground party is coming up for air. The team behind Rinsed has announced a new label, The Umbrella. To accompany the announcement, they’ve unleashed both an excellent single, “Jadehelm,” and a solid album mix. The track is a skittering tech house wonder from frequent contributor Dinamo Azari featuring Sylvermayne. The mix is a meandering effort that evokes the down and dirty aesthetic Rinsed does best while branching out to cover new territory as well.

Releases from the imprint will be accompanied by a live event and the inagural compilation album G.O.D. Vol 1 is no exception. Set for digital release on February 29, Rinsed will host a follow up party on March 4 — with advance tickets available here.

The notorious production team is of course known for their artful parties in clandestine underground locations. Their New Years Eve effort, for example, saw Todd Edwards and Jacques Green presiding over the decks while partygoers enjoyed sculptural installations and a specially retrofitted smoking garden.

Whether The Umbrella indicates tentative steps toward the mainstream or a simpler intent to bring gritty warehouse rave vibes into Brooklyn living room parties is unclear, but it’s a welcome move regardless.
