Nicole Moudaber steps into 2016 with ‘Silent Sigh’ EP on MOOD [EP Review]

Nicole Moudaber has glided into 2016 with refined brilliance. Having spent the year prior proliferating her hypnotic brand of techno through weekly doses of In The MOOD radio and a busy tour schedule that brought her to the world’s cornerstone underground gatherings, she maintains her career’s momentum with a brand new EP.

Moudaber tops off a stunning closing performance at BPM with the release of Silent Sigh on her MOOD imprint. The three-piece ensemble begins on a quietly ominous note as the title track floats through an ominous terrain filled with murky layers of sound and a short breakdown that induces goosebumps

“Move A Little Closer” presents a similar sound profile to “Silent Sigh,” yet differentiates itself with livelier percussion and a touch of melody that develops into a complex second half. Formerly released as a free download over Christmas, “More Ways Than One” is still a palatable listen with its moving simplicity.

The EP depicts the sonic image Nicole has fostered for herself and offers an exciting insight into what we’re likely to hear from her in coming months as she prepares for her upcoming performances at the New York Awakenings with Victor Calderone and EDC Mexico.
