Pretty Lights posts cryptic messages and hints at significant changes to come
With the Oscars commanding most of the public’s attention on Sunday, Pretty Lights took to social media to release a series of cryptic posts that led to his website, which now features an equally mysterious video. Spread out between Twitter and Instagram, the Colorado producer’s posts avoid revealing concrete information, but they do seem to signal a coming change in his approach to music.
I’m no longer satisfied making “music” to “release” on “albums”. Different is coming. pic.twitter.com/4NO6FSsyDe

The posts also quoted film auteur Stanley Kubrick and scientist Nikola Tesla — with both quotes centered around “light” — as well as a definition for the word “analogy.”

All of this appears to be centered around a pale yellow cassette tape that appears on Derek’s social media accounts and in the video posted to his website. While he’s successfully shrouded his future plans in mystery, fans’ interest is piqued to say the least. You can see the rest of Pretty Lights’ posts on his Twitter and Instagram, and check out his video here.
