At three years old, DJ Arch Jnr has celebrated more headlines than he has birthday parties. Financially more successful than many DJs ten times his age, the toddler won $35,000 in November after winning “South Africa’s Got Talent”.
Now, the young DJ is passing the point of being purely a gimmick, having been granted a slot at “Back To The Old Skool,” a concert featuring established house stalwarts such as Black Coffee, DJ Christos and more taking place in Johannesburg on Saturday‚ February 27. The irony of including DJ Arch Jnr in a lineup celebrating old school house is furthered by its inclusion of the”godfathers of house,” Roger Sanchez‚ David Morales‚ Jazzie B, and Todd Terry — effectively manifesting the show as a baptism for the young DJ. The announcement of this lineup indicates that DJ Arch Jnr’s publicity may not be a one-time stunt: he may be making the rounds for awhile — or, at the very least, until he has to enroll in grade school.
