Flume – Never Be Like You (Disclosure Remix)
In the summer of 2013, Flume unearthed one of his biggest remixes to date, taking on Disclosure’s garage-tinged single “You & Me” from their debut album, Settle. Now the Lawrence brothers have officially returned the favor with a remix of Flume’s blockbuster new original, “Never Be Like You,” taken from his forthcoming LP, Skin.
As they do so well, Disclosure have conjured up a wonky, left-field offering that never quite goes where you think it’s headed. Following a warping, detuned build up, the song merges into a thumping house section with a boisterous lead — a noticeable change-up from the more sedative grooves of their recent sophomore album Caracal.
If Disclosure have ever opted to create a more ‘peak-time’ offering, this may be it. While certainly not as groundbreaking as Flume’s seminal 2013 remix, the Lawrence brothers’ latest work succeeds in exploring new shades of their varied production style.
