Jack Beats bring ‘Work It’ EP to Night Bass

Jack Beats have one of the most easily recognizable sounds out there. Fitting the bill of their classic sound as well as that of AC Slater’s label, Night Bass, Jack Beats’ new two-track EP Work It further solidifies their mastery of everything wobbly.

The title track starts the EP off in less weird fashion than what is usually considered to be the norm for the duo. Their standard bubble bass follows a general-yet-funky deep house bassline, this time with added ambient female vocals and some sitar samples that give it an exotic edge. Of course, no Jack Beats track would be complete without a chopped up G-house-like vocal, which in this case repeats the title’s mantra, “work it.”

The second track, entitled “Intermission,” is anything but that. Again showing their rock-solid consistency, the B-side features edgy talking-style vocals that provide the substance of the breakdowns and the sugar on top. Changing things up a little, the second buildup resolves into a breakbeat rhythm that offers welcome variety without over-complicating the track.
