Roman Flügel – 9 Years (DJ Koze Remix)

When it was announced that DJ Koze would be assembling Pampa Records’ first label compilation, it brought forth word of an illustrious track list featuring the likes of Jamie XX, Mount Kimbie, Roman Flügel and even the enigmatic Ådå. Now the first track from this collection has been released – DJ Koze’s stunning remix of Roman Flügel’s “9 Years.”

Previously snuck in at the close of Flügel’s Essential Mix, DJ Koze lent a hand to the song by toning down some of its brassier elements and adding a good bit of length. While the difference is subtle, that’s exactly the way DJ Koze intended it to be, as not much by way of enhancement is needed when a song is so inherently ravishing. In an interview, DJ Koze said the following of the remix:

As i listened to this beauty i felt a deep wish to make a version for the club in a decent and humble way. Just adding a beat and stretching the arrangement to 10 minutes. Only god knows how the significant snaerdrum of my favorite Mood 2 Swing Classics made it into my version. We asked these old heroes for permission and a new child was born

The complete 19-song compilation from Pampa Records will be released on April 29.
