Sony reportedly to drop Dr. Luke in light of legal battle with Ke$ha

In light of Dr. Luke and Ke$ha’s relentless legal battle over her freedom to produce new music, Sony has taken the plunge in a courageous next step to end its contract with Dr. Luke a year before its expiration date.

However, it’s important to note that Sony is terminating its relationship with Lukasz Gottwald not because it believes Ke$ha has a case, but rather because the label’s poster child, Adele, has taken a defensive stance in support of her plight. It seems that the resulting public relations debacle ultimately led Sony, one of the world’s three major labels, to end its relationship with Dr. Luke solely for its reputation, rather than that of Ke$ha.

“There is no contest. Ke$ha has no case in regards to her contract but they can’t afford the Adeles of the world out in the streets calling the label unsupportive,” an unnamed individual explained to The Wrap“The fact that this hasn’t already been taken care of with Luke is confusing, especially for people in the building.”

For now, it is unknown how Sony plans to cease its relationship with Dr. Luke.
