Tiësto wins Edison music award for unprecedented contributions to the music industry
Tiësto has added yet another accomplishment to his burgeoning résumé — the Edison Award — which will be presented to the musical icon during the broadcast of RTL Late Night, a Dutch late night talk show. According to the panel of judges, “‘He does not stick to a winning formula that guarantees commercial success, but looks to the boundaries of the musical spectrum and challenges them through special collaborations.”
Tijs marks the first dance music artist to be granted the Edison Award. In claiming that he is “already years at the top” of the dance landscape, the panel’s decision to confer the Edison Award on the Dutch idol was far from difficult. Citing his unprecedented achievements within the dance music realm, including having nabbed over 70 international awards, Tiësto’s recognition in the Edison Awards denotes a monumental step forward for electronic music.
