Watch Major Lazer’s historic performance in Cuba
It’s been over 50 years since the United States established its embargo against Cuba, though recently, relations between the two countries have been on the mend. As the two governments welcome a historic era together, Major Lazer has planted their Peace Is The Mission flag in Cuban soil, beginning a new chapter that will hopefully open the door for more American music acts to follow. News first broke that the dancehall trio would be visiting Cuba in January, and now the landmark show has concluded, marking an important moment for dance music internationally.
Performing for free along Havana’s hazy waterfront, Major Lazer drew a herd of fans to the momentous show as the first mainstream dance music act to perform for a Cuban crowd. The first footage of the show finds Diplo handling his ringleader duties in top form, waving the Cuban flag and bopping up and back across the stage through cuts including “Jan No Partial” and “Be Free.”
TO THE PEOPLE AND THE COUNTRY OF CUBA THANK YOU. WE HAVE BEEN HUMBLED BY YOUR LOVE pic.twitter.com/4KkYBZb0ih

As Walshy Fire, Jillionaire and Diplo help usher in a new epoch for American and Cuban relations, Cuba could very well become an exciting new international tour destination for our favorite dance acts.
