Watch This: Skrillex and Jauz release animated music video for ‘Squad Out’

Skrillex and Jauz have released a video for their Adult Swim Single “Squad Out ft. Fatman Scoop.” The video is directed by Adult Swim veteran Adam Fuchs, who has worked on shows Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Ugly Americans for the network, as well as provided music videos for artists such as Flying Lotus and Neon Indian.

The video, unsurprising given its director, is an extension of Adult Swim’s trademark gonzo animation. It opens innocuously enough, with animated avatars of Skrillex and Jauz hopping into an elevator. It doesn’t take long, though, for things to get very weird. The elevator blasts off into space before letting a cartoon Fatman Scoop — his nose replaced with an elephant trunk — and a squad of malicious looking partners into the room with two producers. We won’t spoil the video for you, but if you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to be physically accosted by a Skrillex and Jauz drop, this video has the answer.

“There was this really great moment that happened before starting the video… I woke up from a deep sleep on my couch to a late night talk show on my TV. They were airing a bit that had a fake Skrillex battle-rapping with Mozart and I was so exhausted, I didn’t quite know what I was watching. It was one of the weirdest and most confusing things I’ve seen in a long time. I knew at that moment, I had to make something that could be viewed in the same way I saw that skit.
