18-year old producer Steve James expands upon his impressive remixing pedigree with a sun-drenched remix of Australian singer-songwriter Conrad Sewell’s “Remind Me.” The downtempo, gospel-infused original doesn’t lend itself to an upbeat remix, but James executes his tropical rework with the same creative approach tempered by radio-friendly sensibility that tapped his production efforts on Justin Bieber’s Purpose. 

Sewell’s vocal swells over reimagined piano chords, claps and strings, retaining the soulful essence of “Remind Me” in his summery new take. James’ remix, which received a New Music Friday feature on Spotify, is primed to be a fixture in playlists during the upcoming pool party season.

“With ‘Remind Me’ I got a very unique chance to work with both gospel influences and a lot of organic sounds,” Steve explained about his remix. “I’m excited about how sticking to that palette turned out. There’s a new palette of sounds and basis for inspiration around every corner, and an unlimited array of options to choose from — really there isn’t a better way to find your own sound than re-imagining others.”
