Deadmau5 levies trademark infringement lawsuit against vape brand deadmodz

Deadmau5 is no stranger to confrontation. From his numerous twitter feuds — making waves recently with Kanye West over pirated software — to audaciously taking on the behemoth that is the Disney Corporation over the use of his iconic mau5head, Joel Zimmerman is never one to stand down from a fight. Not only was his Disney dispute bold, but it ultimately paid off as the two sides eventually “amicably resolved their dispute.”

Thus, it comes as no surprise that Zimmerman has taken legal action against the brand of vapor products deadmodz. The suit alleges that the brand is infringing on trademark as well as promoting a false association with deadmau5 himself and his brand.

Zimmerman’s camp had initially sent letters to deadmodz parent company, West Coast Vape, asking them to change the branding of their product. The vaporizer company responded by significantly altering their site and removing a conspicuous logo that deadmau5’s attorneys alleged was direct copy of his trademark bubble script.

This did not satisfy Zimmerman’s team and they have demanded further changes while attempting to settle out of court in February 2016. West Coast Vape has been silent in regards to the settlement offer and deadmau5’s attorney’s has prepared the suit. West Coast Vape has yet to offer comment on the pending litigation.
