To say Flume‘s sophomore LP Skin is anxiously awaited is an egregious understatement. The Australian star has been slowly rolling out new singles and remixes from high profile artists to whet fans’ appetites all throughout 2016. The album’s release date, however, was never forthcoming. That has all changed, as Flume has released another new single, “Wall Fuck,” and revealed the album will be released May 27.

“Wall Fuck” continues a trend that Flume has been following that eschews the colossal synthesized waves that would swell and fall — the quintessential “Flume drop.” This new single veers boldly into a more experimental field, relying on repetitive, finely chopped samples to provide melodic elements over alien-sounding percussion. Interlaced between these idiosyncratic sections, Flume pivots away and adds softer synths, adroitly smoothing the track out and adding an ethereal quality to the proceedings.
