Flying Lotus is scoring a film that’s executive produced by Shia LaBeouf

Steven Ellison’s Flying Lotus moniker has never existed in just a single medium. Outside of music production, Flying Lotus has a history with cinema, from his work on Imperial Dreams to most recently scoring another Sundance entry FuckkkYouu. Now as Ellison continues to dip into the film space, he is lending his talents to a new project called LoveTrue. Executive produced by actor/performance artist Shia LaBeouf, the “non-fiction” film is described as, “a unique exploration of the challenges that love can present and how our past and present experiences shape the decisions we make when the fantasy of True Love dissipates.”

As of now, there’s no trailer or auditory preview for LoveTrue, though the film is due to be presented at the Tribeca Film Festival, April 13-24. Directed by Israeli filmmaker Alma Har’el, the film aims to explore the shifting dynamics of love between real characters, depicting younger versions of themselves.

Shia LaBeouf’s contribution to the feature may prove to conjure some curious responses, but anyone who’s familiar with FlyLo’s expansive body of work knows he wouldn’t be involved unless this one was sure to be a veritable head-scratcher.
