What So Not & GANZ – Lone (feat. JOY)
Emoh Instead is finally settling down in his new role as the sole proprietor of What So Not after having completed copious amounts of international touring following Flume’s departure. Left to his own devices, fans were finally able to get a taste of a purely Emoh production under the banner’s new direction through his remix of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s “Innerbloom.” His second official single as a solo act comes as a nuanced collaboration with GANZ.
Where What So Not earned initial popularity for their powerful future bass and trap productions, “Lone” follows a calmer, soulful path as JOY’s vocals accompany subtle keyboards and percussion. That isn’t to say the song is lackluster in any way — rather, the two producers take a finer approach that feels more advanced than the genre’s typical fare.
