HARD Summer begins teasing 2016 lineup with cryptic website
In terms of the annual festival circuit, people tend to associate the tail end of April with Coachella — marquee performances, special guest appearances, and new songs debuted. But the end of April also marks another big announcement for festival goers, specifically the Los Angeles crowd, as HARD Presents usually releases their flagship event’s lineup around the time the dust in Indio begins to settle.
Yesterday, Gary Richards and company threw the snowball that’s going to start the avalanche by posting a cryptic “error notice” across their channels that looks like it was cropped out of Windows 95 and onto your news feed. The festival’s website is now a 64-bit login screen, and the only informational resource we now have is an 800-number hotline. Simply put, HARD is bracing themselves for when the internet breaks. So should you.
Calling the hotline is the obvious first move here. You can call 1-(844)-4-HARD-16 find out how to buy tickets (not really), which go on sale April 29. You can dial an extension to learn more about the lineup, though HARD is going to tantalize us with that coveted information for a little longer. You can even dial an extension to learn more about playing at the actual festival, starting with tips like “learn Abelton,” and “practice, a lot.”
HARD then sends you down the rabbit hole a little further. Fans can sign up for exclusive early info at http://8444hard16.com/, though the only way to receive anything is by providing your fax number. Or your dad’s. Or your office’s, if you’re bold.
The annual lineup roll-out, or in this case dial-up, has become a critical element to the HARD Summer ethos. This year, HARD has already laid the internet to rest in preparation. Now it’s only a matter of time now before the 2016 lineup lands and the rest of us are forced to do the same.
Check out HARD Summer’s website here and if see if you can decrypt the lineup.
