If his trajectory continues, NGHTMRE is poised to take sole creative control of the trap genre one day. He’s proven himself to be one of the brightest new talents on the block, and he shows absolutely no signs of slowing. Recently, trap’s reigning overlord RL Grime, returned with “Aurora,” a new original that’s already clearly going to be golden remix material. NGHTMRE is quick to cut to the chase with a new rework of RL’s latest output, crowd testing an early draft of his “Aurora” remix at a club show in Michigan.

Honing in on the original mixes larger-than-life aesthetic, NGHTMRE pads RL’s groundwork with knocking percussion modifications for a dazzling future-bass treatment on “Aurora’s” distant, atmospheric composition. Keeping close to the original’s snappy hi-hats and pitch-bending vocal samples, the Mad Decent recruit already has what sounds likely a nearly finished remix that may come sooner than anyone thought. Trap music has had a notable year already. Skrillex is cranking out hip-hop beats, Baauer is re-inventing himself, and NGHTMRE is continually upping the ante with every production his name is on, most recently on RL Grime’s “Aurora.”
