Prince dies at 57
Prince, real name Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at age 57. Prince’s body was found in his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota on early Thursday morning. TMZ reported the news, and the Associated Press has confirmed it.
The cause of death is still unknown, although Prince was hospitalized with the flu last week.
Prince’s legacy lives on as one of the most impactful musicians of modern times. In his his three decade plus career, Prince released 39 albums, including the seminal Purple Rain, from 1984, which resulted in his first number 1 on the Billboard 200. His last album, HITNRUN Phase Two, was released in 2015.
Ultimately, Prince’s contributions to the musical landscape simply can’t be overstated — he was an iconoclast, a visionary, a cultural trailblazer. He will be thoroughly missed. Rest in peace, Prince.
