Rihanna joins Calvin Harris onstage to close out Coachella’s first weekend
Calvin Harris was expected to put on a spectacle to close out the final night of Coachella, and it’s safe to say he delivered. During Calvin’s closing set, he introduced 2011’s “We Found Love,” and in true Coachella spirit, Rihanna emerged from the crowd to sing live vocals for the pair’s Grammy-winning hit. Taylor Swift and a handful of stars in the crowd documented the cameo on their cell phones, making for one of the most memorable moments of Coachella’s first weekend.
The notion of an average DJ set at major events is quickly becoming obsolete. Rather, the guest appearance has become a critical ingredient in major festival performances as musicians compete for the coveted “best” show. This past weekend alone saw Jack Ü bring out Kanye, Zedd accompanied by Kesha, and Bernie Sanders hype Run The Jewels’ crowd intro, but Calvin Harris and Rihanna sharing the stage may have taken the cake. Now start to prepare for Weekend 2.
