YouTube to broadcast Coachella Weekend 2 in 360° livestream

Just in case the first weekend of Coachella live streams hasn’t made you green enough with envy, YouTube has announced select weekend two broadcasts will be available in 360° format.

The feature, introduced to the site last year, allows the viewer to watch the stage and crowd from every angle by dragging the screen around. The schedule is yet to be announced, but previews from weekend one are already up at Coachella’s YouTube page and promise an exciting new streaming experience.

YouTube has also announced the launch of a similar audio experience which broadcasts sound at varying levels in an attempt to mimic the real life spatial layout.

“Just as watching a concert in 360° can give you an unmatched immersive experience, spatial audio allows you to listen along as you do in real life, where depth, distance and intensity all play a role,” said Neal Mohan, YouTube’s Chief Product Officer, in a statement.
