Dillon Francis and NGHTMRE release long-awaited collaboration, ‘Need You’

Dillon Francis has a knack for collaborating with rising new artists just before they reach the tipping point. His latest studio partner is NGHTMRE, the Los Angeles-bred producer who is currently lighting up the trap scene. Together, the two have channeled Dillon’s roots with a heavy new moombahton collaboration titled “Need You.” Notably previewed last month at Euphoria Fest, the tag-team effort has inspired no shortage of hype in the run-up to its release. Now Zane Lowe has delivered the world premiere on his Beats 1 radio show.

Francis described the track to Zane as “weird, fun, awesome moombahton vibes.” With its chopped, spritely vocal and pulverizing synth hook, he’s right on the mark. It’s a potent collaboration, and, with the help of NGHTMRE, an alluring spin on moombahton. Referring to the niche genre, Francis said: “NGHTMRE and I really encapsulated the energy of it and made it brand new,” before adding, “I feel like moombahton is coming back in a big way this year.” With this new collaboration, Francis may very well be right.

“Need You” is officially out Friday, May 5, on Mad Decent.
