Five dead after Philippines’ CloseUp Forever Summer party

Tragic news out of Pasay City in the Philippines this weekend, as five attendees have been confirmed dead in the wake of the CloseUp’s annual Forever Summer party. The open-air concert, which took place on Saturday, May 21 at the Mall of Asia, ran for 12 hours and had 14,000 in attendance. The lineup was not disclosed to the public.

The Pasay City police chief inspector, Rolando Baula, said the ongoing investigation is looking at three possible causes of death for the five victims: drug overdose, heat stroke, and poisoning. At least two of the victims were confirmed to have died from drug overdose, according to an autopsy conducted by The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). All five were rushed to the hospital separately, including one American, Anthony Miller, 33. The NBI is conducting toxicology reports to determine what specific drugs may have caused the fatalities.
