Glastonbury to honor Prince along with David Bowie

After Prince‘s unexpected passing in April, numerous artists expressed their remorse and respect for the legendary musician, with quite a few of Coachella‘s second weekend acts performing his tracks. Now England’s Glastonbury Festival has announced that they will also be honoring the Purple Rain artist.

The festival had previously committed to honoring the late David Bowie, who passed away in January, by decorating the Pyramid Stage with his iconic lightning bolt from Aladdin Insane and by playing his entire performance from the festival’s 2000 iteration. There are no specifics yet on how Prince will be honored, though there has been talk of paying tribute by hosting late night “Prince parties.” Emily Eavis, co-organizer of Glastonbury, went on to lament the fact that Prince never got to play the festival, although there were a few times the notoriously particular musician came close to appearing.

Glastonbury will be held June 22-26.
