New MSTRKRFT album ‘Operator’ to drop in July; listen to new single ‘Party Line’

After flying under the radar for five years, Canadian duo MSTRKRFT proclaimed their return by releasing new single “Little Red Hen” in March. They followed that up in April with an announcement of a seven-date North American tour that kicks off in June. In keeping with the escalation of their revelations, the group has revealed that their new album Operator — their first since 2009’s Fist of God — is coming July 22. In tandem with the news, they’ve also released a second single, “Party Line.”

The track is a caustic affair, featuring heavy doses of distorted saw waves and pounding drums. The track also features spoken vocals with significant reverb that only serve to increase the ominous tone of the composition. While the buzzy distortion anchors “Party Line,” the song features enough variation and unexpected twists — especially the solo, gentle piano that plays the track out — to keep listeners engaged and surprised throughout its runtime.
