New supergroup, Prophets of Rage, formed by members of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy, and Cypress Hill
After the website ProphetsOfRage.com launched, fans speculated that the May 31st clock countdown indicated new music from Rage Against the Machine, whose last studio album came out in 2000. Connected to the webpage were posters plastered all over Los Angeles reading “Clear the way for the Prophets of Rage. The Party’s Over. Summer 2016.”
The rumors have finally come to a halt now that the secret is out, unveiling details of the newest supergroup, Prophets of Rage.
Three members of Rage Against the Machine make up the band’s foundation, with Tom Morello on guitar, Tim Commerford on bass, and Brad Wilk on drums. Chuck D of Public Enemy and B-Real of Cypress Hill join the group as MCs. RATM’s vocalist Zack de la Rocha is not a part of the project.
Prophets of Rage will perform for the first time on June 3 at the Hollywood Palladium, playing songs from all three individual bands. A summer tour is reportedly in the works as well.
