Porter Robinson shows off rumored new edit of RL Grime’s remix of ‘The Hills’

In late 2014, RL Grime presented his debut studio record, Voidcementing his status as trap music’s reigning king. Almost exactly one year later, RL offered a remix of The Weeknd‘s “The Hills,” serving up one of the biggest trap hits of the year. Laying down an aced remix that drew on Void’s contemporary big-room appeal, RL Grime took The Weeknd’s infectious R&B and made it his own. Now, a new edit of RL Grime’s spin on the “The Hills” looks to be underway, and quite possibly at the hands of Porter Robinson.

Recently crowd-testing the new edit — rumored to be his own — during a show at California State University, Fullerton, Porter amps up RL Grime’s heavy-handed remix of “The Hills” with knocking drum additions and grinding build ups. The live edit, captured by a fan on video, bears plenty of Porter hallmarks, although no official details have confirmed the Worlds creator as the name behind the edit. What’s more, as with all his secret edits, his rendition of RL Grime’s take on “The Hills” will likely remain an elusive live weapon for the foreseeable future.
