DA Premiere: Paul van Dyk, Chris Bekker, & Chris Montana unveil ‘Berlinition’ video
Paul van Dyk is nearing full recovery from his tragic fall at ASOT Utrecht, accompanying his return to health with show announcements and, of course, unearthing new music awaiting release. His latest work came in the form of a collaboration with label underling Chris Bekker called “Berlinition,” inspired by the city both producers grew up in.
The clip takes on an almost vintage feel, with synth arrangement and basslines reminiscent of earlier European trance and an enthralling build where Paul’s influence is easily felt. Though simplistic in nature, the gradual introduction of sonic layers encourages listening until the very end when they come together into a nostalgic bundle. The accompanying video is naturally set in Berlin, whose landscapes bring new dimension to the track as snapshots of the city allow those listening to see just what inspired such an emotive composition in the first place.
“Berlinition” will see a June 17 release on Vandit, serving as Paul van Dyk’s first release since his accident.
