Skrillex and Diplo’s mixtape gets certified gold

Skrillex and Diplo have broken new ground with their Jack Ü project. What began as a low-key billing on the Mad Decent Block Party stop in San Diego of 2013, has unquestionably changed the courses of pop and dance music respectively. The duo’s debut self-titled mixtape landed in mid-2015, and today, a gold certification from the RIAA cements the project’s already iconic status. The mixtape’s standout selection, the infectious Justin Bieber-assisted “Where Are Ü Now” already went triple platinum earlier this year, dissolving Skrillex and Diplo’s typecasts as venerated DJs, and officially crowning the dance titans as pop music’s most in-demand producers of the moment.

Now, their first joint record together, Skrillex and Diplo present Jack Ühas officially moved over 500,000 units. And while new Jack Ü music was previously promised around Coachella, we can expect Sonny and Wes to come through with new material any day now – as soon as they find somewhere to hang their first round of gold plaques.
