Spotify hires Lady Gaga’s former manager Troy Carter as Global Head of Creator Services

Lady Gaga’s former manager Troy Carter confirmed that he’ll be joining Spotify as Global Head of Creator Services. In his new role, he will compete directly with services like Apple Music and Tidal, working to counter their exclusive content as well as focusing on new content creation. Carter will work with artists, songwriters, and labels to further their relationships with the streaming service, which has lagged in this capacity behind competitors.

As an artist manager, Carter fostered the career development and subsequent rise to prominence of Lady Gaga, John Legend, Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor. Carter’s management company Atom Factory is also a tech investment fund, having stakes in Dropbox, Warby Parker, Uber, Lyft, Genius, theSkimm, StyleSeat and Spotify. With the help of his industry connections, Spotify hopes to capture exclusive content on par with Taylor Swift’s 1989 world tour film on Apple Music and Beyoncé’s exclusive preliminary release of Lemonade on Tidal.

Carter shared the news with his followers on Facebook, which you can read below.
