Swum – Anax (Original Mix)
Like many great producers hidden in the corners of SoundCloud, trip-hop beat smith and sample maker Swum has a great deal more quality, consistency, and invention in his output than any number of more well-known acts. He puts out tracks with a startling frequency, averaging only two weeks between each output, and has a fully developed sound that’s all his own.
Swum’s newest offering, “Anax” is one of those rare pieces that works equally as well as a thoughtful, headphones song as it does a dancefloor weapon. Mixing future bass, hip hop, and more experimental sounds, “Anax” is an aural banquet of rich chords, subtle layers, tripped-out chops, stutters, and virtuosic glitches, that’s as smooth and clean as it is breathlessly kinetic.
