Verizon to produce an episodic EDM musical for go90 users

Verizon has become the latest corporation to attempt milking the proverbial EDM cow. The company, through its go90 video application, will be producing and releasing a 12-part musical series related to electronic music in the fall.  Titled Pulse, its primary plot point involves the protagonist getting sucked into the “seductive club scene” of Berlin, where “music is everything and sex and drugs are as vital as water.”

Pulse recruited Duncan Sheik of Spring Awakening fame as its producer and Keith Jarrow as the script writer, whose most recent project is a musical edition of Spongebob Squarepants.

Ultimately, we can’t help but forecast another mediocre EDM production as campy as We Are Your Friends, the 2015 Zac Efron film which failed to resonate with actual fans of the genre. It’s shaping up to serve as yet another misinformed attempt to reflect the actual dance music scene, fueling negative stereotypes fed to the public by the media. Luckily, the viewership of the show is only limited to those using the go90 application.
