Vic Mensa confirms new project, ‘There’s A Lot Going On’
Hot off the heels of a feature on Flume‘s sophomore LP, Skin, and recent news of studio time with Damon Albarn and company working on the Gorillaz‘ highly anticipated upcoming record, it’s safe to say Vic Mensa has been hard at work, and it doesn’t look like he’s taking a summer break. Last week, the Chicago rap star teased a photo on Instagram with tracks broken down into two lists under the labels “Album” and “Tape.” The tracks columned under Mensa’s album list were blurred out in the initial photo but now we have the official announcement of There’s A Lot Going On, presumptively the mixtape ahead of the “No Chill” proponent’s debut record.
With enough material stocked for both an album and a mixtape, it looks like Vic Mensa is gearing up for a dominating summer as his campaign to be one of rap’s most energizing young talents continues to roll forward. Though no official release date has been announced yet, word is that There’s A Lot Going On will be heard as early as the end of the week. The Hyde Park Hooligan has clearly been busy in the studio this year, and by the name of his aptly titled upcoming mixtape, there likely a lot more to come.
