The Chainsmokers release new single ‘Closer’ with Halsey
The Chainsmokers’ knack for crafting catchy crossover anthems is undeniable. One need look no further than their track record from the past 12 months, which boasts multi-platinum singles like “Don’t Let Me Down” and “Roses.” Now the pair have formally unveiled their new single, “Closer,” a collaboration with 21-year-old songstress Halsey. While the track is officially due out on Friday, July 28, an early Spotify upload has fans already circulating the track in mass.
“Closer” finds The Chainsmokers doing what they do best: laying down a simple yet satisfying chord progression with relatable, radio-friendly lyrics on top. It’s an easily digestible concept undoubtedly, but executed in a way that makes it instantly more alluring than your standard pop fare. The song notably features the group’s own vocals, which serve as the intro while also harmonizing with Halsey at various intervals.
