DA Premiere: Chaim – Nineties (Original Mix)

Tel Aviv-born producer Chaim has teamed up with rising Los Angeles imprint Culprit to deliver a fresh slice of bass-heavy house ripe for summer dancefloors. Entitled Nineties, Chaim’s latest EP offers a forward-thinking take on classic house motifs while continuing his red-hot trail of releases for the likes of Saved, BPitch Control and Visionquest. Featuring two original cuts and a re-work of each by fellow Israelis Red Axes and New York upstarts Shahar and Motum, Chaim continues to prove why he’s one of the most revered producers in the game.

The EP’s lead track “Nineties” is a shimmering and undeniable body-mover featuring warped vocal whisps, thick shuffling percussion and a beefy analogue bassline that underscores the groove. Using bright luminous tones and dark hedonistic vocal chops, Chaim expertly crafts melodic tension teasing at the madness ahead. Once the payoff hits, a rolling analogue bass hook sends the track straight back to, you guessed it, the ’90s. It’s a surefire dance smash and another excellent release from LA’s Culprit, who continue to bring out the best from some of dance music’s brightest stars.
