Finland’s Ruisrock festival reports two cases of sexual assault
According to Finland’s YLE News, two cases of rape were reported to have occurred during Ruisrock Music Festival. Authorities do not believe the cases are related, though they are both alleged to have taken place in a portable bathroom stall within the festival grounds. These incidents come just a week after neighboring country Sweden saw a rash of reported sexual assaults at two of its biggest festivals.
Details of the case are scarce, with authorities only revealing that one of the victims is 17 years old — the other victim’s age was withheld from the media — and that no arrests have yet been made.
Ruisrock is held annually on the island of Ruissalo and saw performances from the likes of Jack Ü, Air, Major Lazer, and DJ Shadow this year.
