Justin Jay & Friends has been an interesting undertaking to watch evolve. The project started releasing tracks in a deeper, indie-inspired house direction but has since offered tracks that fall into various categories including funk, disco, techno, and tech-house. Currently on the third installment of the Fantastic Voyage! album series, Justin Jay & Friends return to Lee Foss’ Repopulate Mars imprint for a new underground-directed single, “Make You Mine.”

Josh Taylor returns to take over to provide a vocoder-assisted vocal treatment, while Justin Jay shines in his techno roots. The Dirtybird producer introduces Taylor’s dark yet calming lyrics with a brooding yet mild arrangement until the track’s hook unloads a striking techno bassline that will immediately send goosebumps up and down the body. The 8-minute cut exhibits an extraterrestrial mood like the name of the label to which it calls home.
